Ashley Parris has been a trial lawyer for 20 years and is dedicated to fighting for those whose lives have been changed by the wrongdoing of others. She believes that trial work is a powerful tool and doing it effectively is a skill that is crafted through time, study and practice. A trial reaches the hearts of jurors not through law or argument but with story and empathy. Because of this belief, Ashley has become a uniquely gifted storyteller. Ashley grew up around some of the most winning trial lawyers in history and has a singular understanding for what it means to craft a story that will win. Ashley is also committed to her work as a teacher. As a beloved staff member at the Trial Lawyers College for 10 years, Ashley has been chosen to lead the College’s signature 3-week training as well as its groundbreaking course dedicated to asking a jury for money. Her ability to teach has made her more valuable in the courtroom, where she teaches science, law and difficult concept to jurors using sincerity, simplicity and a little bit of humor. Her years at the Inner City Law Center, where she was the Supervising Attorney for the Slum Housing Litigation Department, helped Ashley hone her skills to give a voice to those who are often marginalized and treated unfairly. She has been a Super Lawyer Rising Star, a Super Lawyer and the Trial Lawyer of the Year for the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association. She is frequently asked to write, lecture and teach on chronic pain disorders across the country and the disparity in the treatment of women in litigation and medical care. Ashley has particular expertise in chronic pain disorders and continues to practice law alongside her husband, Steve McElroy, who focus their practice on complex catastrophic injury trial work. They have achieved hundreds of millions in settlements and verdicts for their clients. Her years of experience in this field have lead to a deep understanding of the medicine and science involved in complicated cases. Foremost, Ashley has always been able to live and think outside the box and to that end now lives between Ojai, CA and Paris, France with her husband and two children.
